"This is the second website that Derek Newman has put together for us and I am delighted with the result. Once again Derek has created a site which is colourful and imaginative, yet functional. I love the fact that there
are some common elements in the designs, which reinforces the connection between the Guitars
Alive Trio and our Guitars Alive
non-profit organization."

DEREK'S THOUGHTS
This would be website number three of four for Philip Candelaria. The problem with creating four websites with the same theme and navigation for one client is creating four websites with the same theme and navigation. Philip is very specific as to what musician websites should have: biography, reviews, music, video, links and a presskit. Each of those main navigation pages all have the same sub-menus and downloads. It can be difficult to find variety, especially when you want to keep the ideas similar so your client can update. Philip has gotten used to updating the Canadian Guitar Quartet’s (CGQ) website so I wanted to keep the same flow so he could easily update.

Colors had to be different than the other websites so Philip wanted a blue and white theme. I found a very nice blue, so nice in fact that another client saw it and wanted it. Philip wanted buttons similar to the CGQs so I put three on each page to compliment the trio aspect. Again, Philip wanted similar headers so he could update easily. At this point, I had already used a guitar in the Guitars Alive website (second website of four) so I was stumped as to what to use. I went with the fret idea. I think function is most important and this website is very easy to follow and to use.

Thanks to Philip for another great job in terms of getting me the information. Thanks to the entire Trio for everything. Check out their demo tracks and be sure to pick up their album when it is released in 2011.

"Derek has done it again! - Our Guitars Alive Trio website is stylish and functional at the same time. We wanted something easy to read and with a bit of 'sizzle' to it, and that's exactly what we got."
